Slice took a year off in 2008 - sat around the
barn and enjoyed the view. We really didn't expect her to do that,
but things happen. When she is in the show ring, you just can’t miss Slice
-
she’s long, flat boned, incredibly angular, and open...she
exemplifies dairy character. A
three time winner of her milking class at the National Show, in
2005 she was named ADGA National Champion & Best Udder. She walks with elegance and
grace...with that long neck and
regal appearance she demands attention. Each year she’s looked beautiful, long and
dairy...but in 2005 things came together even more as she deepened and matured to a new
level. Her daughter GCH
Kastdemur’s Orange Crush 4*M EX90 was 3rd pl. 2 yr. Old at
the 2004 Nationals, and 3rd pl. 3 yr. old at the 2005
Nationals. Together Slice and Crush were 3rd place in the Dam
& Daughter class at the 2004 Nationals, and were 1st pl.
Dam & Daughter at the 2005 Nationals.
Slice had a tough time as a kid, and only
survived through the tenacity & attention that Krista gave her... & her own inner strength and will to live. To have this doe accomplish what she has over the years, to
attain the title of ADGA National Champion, to appraise EX93, to produce
3,000 lbs. all in the same year, and to be named on the ADGA Superior
Genetics list as well... we couldn’t be more proud of her.
We’ve kept her son Kastdemur’s Sting who is
sired by Mauldin’s Expensive Habit as one of our Jr. Herdsires for
this year...hoping to instill that stature, dairyness and angularity
throughout our herd of LaManchas. Unfortunately we lost him this
past year, but his daughter Sugar has done everything we had
expected.
Her 2006 Buck kid *B Kastdemur's Slice of
Life gave us a tremendous thrill when he sold in the Spotlight
Sale at the 2006 ADGA Convention. So many people bidding, so quickly it
all went, and he sold for $9100.00. It was almost unbelievable to
experience such support and appreciation - we felt it was due so much to
people who have come to appreciate his beautiful dam as a very unique
and beautiful dairy goat. In 2007, Slice of Life has finished his
CH as only a yearling buck and was also BIS at the Lamancha Specialty
for his owner Jeanne Koploy. This year he appraised EX90 - way to
go!
